Customer Review: vocables in unison with jazz piano - nice!
Nice jazz outing! Often, Tania sings the melody line with vocables in unison with the piano an octave or two higher. She phrases her voice melodies like any other wind instrument, say, sax or flute. There are no lyrics and no "solos," scatting or instrumental. She and her small group get a groove going - maybe funky, maybe bluesy, maybe a bit of swing, maybe a bit of bossa feel - then sings/plays a catchy melody on top. It would be classified as a jazz recording, the "Brazil feel" comes out a bit but is not predominant composition, arrangement, or performance. Very nice music.
Customer Review: DON'T judge this album by it's COVER !
I was just scanning brazilian jass stuff one day and came upon TM by accident.WOW.At the price, I could take a chance and glad I did. This woman does not scat (if that is the right term) like Bobby Mc Ferrin---who is so obviously making crazy sounds that only embarrass me at times.......ha !Tania Maria's voice IS another insturment !Jazzy/and slightly funky...... she will MAKE you like brazilian music !

Do you have the "only if" or "it always happens to me" malady? Is negative thinking getting you down? Are you constantly telling yourself things always go wrong and nothing ever goes right? Has an argument, a mishap, a bad experience with a neighbor, waiter, friend or colleague at work got you down? Are these thoughts on auto-replay in your mind three months later - a year later? And do these constant thoughts make you feel more and more anxious or depressed?

We all suffer from anxious moments and feeling down occasionally, but if these feelings are part of your daily routine, perhaps it is time to evaluate your surroundings and your thinking to see if some positive energy will help. If you continue to focus on things that make you anxious and depressed, you will continue to attract more situations and thoughts that create even more anxiety and despair. What you focus on is what you get. What you think about is what you create.

Positive Thinking = Positive Results

When Norman Vincent Peale wrote his book The Power of Positive Thinking in 1952, he understood the impact of negative thoughts versus positive thinking. He knew that if people would focus their thoughts on positive things they could change their lives for the better. This same principle is at the core of the more recent book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. The good news is, now there is another tool you can use to enhance the ability to stay in a positive mode instead of dropping back and focusing on the negatives.

In the world of Feng Shui, balance is the ultimate objective both in your surroundings and in your mind. If you are always thinking negative thoughts and focusing on the things that have gone wrong in your life, you lose the balance and harmony in your life and attract only the negative things which snowball into more things that go wrong.

Positive Energy Surroundings = Positive Thinking

To stop the constant replay of things going wrong in your life, shift to positive energy in your surroundings and thoughts. What follows are a few easy to apply suggestions on how to create positive energy so you can permanently push the stop button on negative thinking and create a better life which goes your way more often.

1. Step into the light. Go outside where the sun is shining and take a walk. Or, open your curtains and turn on bright lights in your home. Invest in a torchiere lamp that shoots light upward in your favorite room. Light automatically raises your energy levels and thoughts.

2. Find brightly colored rooms to spend time in when feeling down. Go shopping and purchase accent pillows or a throw for the sofa in bright colors to cheer up your favorite room - it will also cheer you up. If you are feeling anxious - spend time in a room that is painted calming colors like blue and green - you will respond positively to the calming energy of these colors.

3. Wear light or bright colored clothing (yellow and orange work great) when feeling despair setting in - they will lift your spirits. Wear calming soft blues and greens when feeling anxious. These colors can change your outlook on life very quickly from negative to positive.

4. Get a notebook or a book for writing and create a Gratitude Journal. Write at least 10 things you are thankful for every day in your journal. If you can't think of anything start with things like having a roof over your head, food on the table or having the ability to walk from your bedroom to the kitchen. Anything will do until you get the hang of it. The more grateful you are for everything in your life the less time you have to feel sorry for yourself and you will find that a lot more things have gone your way than you thought.

5. Play uplifting nurturing music instead of listening to the 6:00 news. There are a lot of music options today so choose wisely - much of it can rob your spirit and create even more anxiety and depression. If you really want stir your energy - play a few John Phillip Susa marches - there is no way you can listen to them and remain down. If you are anxious play classical music like Mozart or inner peace music by artists like Steven Halpern. Music is the universal language that makes the heart dance and the spirit soar creating an abundance of positive energy.

The Feng Shui based suggestions above energize your world and not only lead to positive thinking but also reduce stress, anxiety and the feelings of despair and depression. So often the solution to having a joy-filled happy life truly is in your own back yard - in this case your own home and mind.

Many have long underestimated the power of positive thinking. When you replace the "only ifs" or "it always happens to me" thought process with positive energy, positive thinking is the result. When you think positively, you take control of your life and have a better life - and that is good.

I always dream of singing but hardly I could succeed in doing it beautifully. People in and around me always asked me to improve and change some aspect of my singing. I tried a lot. Then one day when I was going through the BBC music magazine, I read something about learn to sing training package called Singorama.

Well this is one of the best thing I could stumble upon in my life.I felt my dream of becoming a professional singer will be fulfilled sooner than later. Even if you want to sing for personal pleasure, sing in church or sing along with a instrument it has something to offer for everyone.

Now it has been released in Singorama 2.0 format which has 28 new Interactive audio lessons plus some bonus offer. The program is easier to follow with the audio lessons, 2 books and a fun learning software. The audio lessons has some pre-recorded original songs for the users to sing along with.

It has a lot of setting which include solo singing, singing warm ups, singing in harmony, singing for auditions etc. So you can adopt yourself in many situations. Then there is also a software to train yourself to have the perfect ear by the ear training software called the Perfect Your Pitch Pro. It helps in recognizing all 36 notes on the chromatic scale.

Some of the users have given fantastic testimonials about it after using the system. So looks like here is a program which will make us a professional singer for sure. I love this program so much.

What drives people? Some may say inspiration, our ambitions and needs; this is not very far from saying that people are driven by the inspiration provided by art and music as well as by the need to quench our literary thirst. For most people reading a book, watching a movie or listening to their favorite music isn't enough of an experience, the most important part is to interact and get validation from people with the same interests about our point of views and opinions.

It is often said that every individual is different, this remains true in many aspects however when it comes to topics such as Art, music and literature we all have something in common, our tastes as far as music may concur with someone else's but our interests in literature could differ. Validation and the exchange of ideas is what makes the web so popular, every site built provides ideas which are meant to be validated by people, without this basic interaction the entire concept of the web is defeated.

People interested in art, music literature, etc. have taken advantage of the web to create communities focused on sharing their thoughts regarding these topics, for instance some may consider "Five for Fighting - 100 years" as much as a piece of musical art as "Pachebel's - Canon", some may definitively disagree as both pieces belong to different genres, one has vocals the other is solely instrumental; small differences in the perception of art is what triggers reactions on which entire communities come together and share their ideas regarding the topic being discussed.

The same can be said of literature, for some Romeo and Juliet is without a doubt one of the most beautiful pieces of romantic literature ever written, however the language used may not have the same effect in contemporary readers as it won't convey the emotions it did back then; so it is to say that the power of such piece has diluted through time. In order to recreate such excellent work actors and writers come together and work in such play, however what matters is how people perceive their work and how emotions are conveyed through professional acting, again small differences trigger a sea of reviews and opinions which is better expressed in online interactions.

For most of us free speech is the ultimate work of art, as it allows us to express our thoughts through any medium without worrying of censorship, taking advantage of the tools and resources available to express our thoughts is without a doubt the most precious right.

MorbidBeauties.com provides access to an entire community of individuals whose interests revolve around gothic culture. Interact with people interested in art at the gothic forum, visit us today and create a gothic profile!

Customer Review: Fantastic energy!
Simple awesome movie and I was really enthralled by the charisma, the energy of the lead actor. The movie as such is similar to many 80's dance movies but being a Salsa dancer I enjoyed this one so much more. I now keep it in my laptop and watch the opening scene every time I need some positive feel or want to get into the mood of hitting the dance floors. Highly recommended to the Salseros.
Customer Review: Don't Waste Your Money
I bought this because my teenage son and his girlfriend loved Take The Lead and were interested in learning more about latin dancing. The dancing is marginal but the dialogue and acting are TERRIBLE! We couldn't watch it after the first 20 minutes - even the teenagers who, quite frankly, are not the best judges of acting!

IT'S EASY TO ASSUME that successful veteran actors such as Lauren Bacall, Isabella Rosellini and John Woods might not need additional help developing and evolving their craft or pushing their careers to a higher level.

But that's precisely why they and many others seek the help of Steven Memel, a Los Angeles-based vocal and acting coach who, for nearly 20 years has counseled professional and aspiring performers with a philosophy of reinforcing the purity of art as an expression of the self, one that must come from deep within. "There is only one art," he says. "And that is life. There are just different channels through which we express ourselves."

Rooted in this philosophy are his techniques for awakening, or reawakening, that artist within. With acting, singing or speaking, Memel explains, we are playing the body as an instrument. "You have to have an activating energy and a vibrating mechanism," he says in a rich and mellifluous voice. "With a cello it's a bow and a string. With a drum, it's the stick and the vibrating drum head. With your voice, it's your vocal cords and your breath. The amazing thing about the breath is that through our emotions, through our desire to communicate -- and that's what singing and speaking are -- our breath plays an enormous and essential role. You can't communicate all those nuances of despair, anger, love, joy, without the breath. Every single one of these emotional states correlates with some action of breath that is common to all of us."

The breath, he says, is the very foundation that enables us to express this art. Without ballet's plie, he suggests, there is no leap. Without the backswing of a baseball bat in baseball, there can be no home run. Without the air -- without the breath as the backswing, the preparation -- there is no sound. "The role the breath plays is the essence of our life," he says. "It is the fuel, the source that brings life to us. Without it we cease to exist."

Voice is created via air pressure being exerted against the closed vocal cords. In the typical adult male, those cords are just under an inch long, even less than that for women. "When you think of all the pitches and all the dynamic levels you are able to make, you are talking about octaves of notes being produced on hardly any surface area whatsoever," Memel says. "Those vocal chords have to change shapes for each pitch. The body has to regulate a different amount of air pressure for each note too. It's a match-up between the air pressure and the vocal cord closure. When you start putting together all the variables that happen on such a tiny space -- the speed and accuracy at which we are able to do that -- and get to the point where you are not even consciously thinking about it, that is truly staggering."

As with anything, mastery increases personal confidence and trust. It's a process that takes practice. "Just discovering that there is a another possibility of how to breath is sometimes a completely revolutionary thought," he says. "You can hardly speak to a person about letting go of the breath when, due to stressful conditioning or all sorts of other things, they don't have a clue what that means."

Conscious breathing brings many benefits, beginning with overall body awareness. "Being aware of my body and sensation puts me ahead of the game in everything I do," Memel says. "I'm able to learn physical things faster. I don't have to master the art of letting go in the midst of a learning or crisis situation."

In his late teens and early 20s, "People used to call me Mister Intense," he says. "Now they say 'Steven, you are so laid back.' I attribute an enormous amount of that to the ability to breathe the way that I do. Just like in Aikido and other martial arts, you must stay relaxed so that in your moment of necessity for movement you can move in any direction. It's not a dead, heavy laid-back. It's a laid-back that allows me to act and react more quickly than if I wasn't in that particular state."

With even rudimentary conscious breathing skills comes balance in dealing with emotions, physical pain, lovemaking, even listening. "You are a better listener when you are in a balanced state," Memel offers. "It helps with stressful circumstances, and certainly most importantly it helps in ways spiritually to develop peace of mind and to loosen the grip in moments of tension or panic, which we all have. The breath centers you. When you hold your breath you are basically guarding yourself against pain. When you breathe, you are leaving yourself more sensitive and open."

Performers allow people to "be voyeurs of our experience," Memel says. "Besides the technical proficiency, it is really learning how to become someone who comes from their heart and makes you truly believe and feel what we are communicating through the music or the acting." It is coming from a place of truth and purity.

When you are focused on your breathing, and not resisting it, you are much more alive, aware and spontaneous. But to achieve that you have to undergo an initial moment of letting go your grip, breathing, and discovering that there is safety in it. "From that place comes the greatest strength, the greatest freedom, the greatest joy," Memel says. "That is the hardest psychological and emotional place to get to.

Memel recounts the story of jazz pianist Oscar Peterson, who, when asked what he thought about before he launches into one of his elegant and free-spirited solos, said, "What I think before I take a solo is, here goes."

Says Memel, "It's a matter of trust because of the fear of vulnerability, the fear that nothing will be there if we let go, rather than discovering the beautiful array of possibilities that are alive within us at every moment."

More than most factors, music can shape the mood of your wedding service and reception in a really big way. This is particularly so with string quartet and instrumental ensemble music.

The beauty of hiring a string quartet is the versatility of what they can play. Literally, any music classical or popular, (within reason), can be adapted for use by a string quartet. Moreover, string ensemble music provides the perfect backdrop for such a special occasion.

Do you want to relax your guests as they arrive? Complement the conversations during your wedding meal? Don't forget that string quartet music can also accompany an organist or other musicians during the wedding ceremony itself.

If your venue is small or your budget is tight, consider a string quintet or trio in lieu of a string quartet. The difference is only a violin player - plus or minus!

It's imaginative to involve quite different styles of music over the duration of your ceremony and reception. For example, you may want to start the church service with guests being met by a piper, (if it's a Scottish wedding), or a classical rendition from a string quartet just prior to the proceedings commencing. Also what about a jazz band for a bit of gusto after the speeches?

During the reception itself, string quartet instrumental music is a wonderful accompaniment during the meal, when guests want to have a conversation along with the soothing backdrop of great instrumental music

From experience, we recommend that you select a wedding band, jazz band, swing band or an entertainment group that you've personally chosen to start the proceedings proper during the all important, dancing phase of the reception. Alternatively, if your budget is limited you may want to select a string quartet plus disco.

What will you need for wedding day music?

For the most part, this question will be answered by six factors:

The size of your budget.

Do you want a lot of special requests?

The availability of good local bands, string quartets and musicians.

The logistics of your venue and the size of your wedding party.

Your desire to have a live vocalist present.

The amount of dancing that you'll want during your wedding.

If you are planning to have live music at your wedding - consider the following:

Does your chosen band or string quartet have recordings of tracks that you can listen to?

Do they have testimonials that can be seen and if necessary, can you have the opportunity to speak to people who have hired the band previously?

Is there enough space for the string quartet or band at the venue? Is the venue big enough and are the acoustics suited to the sounds of your band?

Will extra PA and sound systems be required to be hired - where they are not being provided by the band or quartet?

What will the band be wearing? For example, if you've hired a string quartet, will the players be in black or white tuxedos.

Are back up musicians available in case one of the band or string quartet has to drop out at short notice?

Is the bandleader, or dance caller, willing and able to act as M.C. and organise the evening's entertainment, direct guests and convey announcements etc?

Who is the leader of the band - and can they be contacted easily prior to the event?

Who will be the responsible person for the band or string quartet at the reception?

What is the total charge? What is the deposit? When and in what payment form is the final balance due?

If you can afford it, wouldn't it be great to have a band and string quartet playing in an alternating fashion or in different parts of the venue?

Will you or the band want a break whilst an evening buffet is being served, for example?

To conclude, music is frequently the last service to be booked for a wedding. Yet it is so important to the ambiance and atmosphere of such a special occasion. At the very least you should consider the possibility of string quartet music alongside a function band or disco. The beauty of string quartet instrumental music is that it can be provided in popular, contemporary or classical styles.

A quartet can play during the ceremony itself - in tandem with a church organist. Whilst, during the welcoming and wedding meal stages of the reception, string quartet music can provide a wonderful romantic backdrop to the occasion.

If your guests are staying overnight at your hotel venue - what about surprising them with beautiful string quartet instrumentals first thing in the morning as they eat their breakfast. Soothing classical music is a sure way to relieve the effects of a wedding hangover.

Finally, don't be afraid to negotiate with a band leader. It's important that you get what you require at a price that's acceptable to you. However, remember that good bands and string quartets cost money and often a cut in costs can only be done when cheaper alternatives are considered.

Good luck with planning your wedding day.

Many figure skating moves and techniques are based on ballet. Skaters who have a background in ballet should be able to transfer the positions and principles from ballet to skating. It is precisely this closeness to dance, and especially to ballet, that sets ice skating apart from any other sport. Although ballet and skating are similar, you have to think of them as two different worlds. There are many moves in skating that are similar to ballet, but you will have to break some ballet rules to get it right in skating.

The skater needs a strong core body to connect the upper and lower body for controlled powerful movements. He must be able to keep his shoulders over his hips throughout jumps, spins, footwork and edges. He must also be able to check his shoulders against his hips. Thus it is to the skater's benefit to become aware of the feeling of twisting in the middle of the torso, and also the feeling of staying square.

Figure skating and ballet require balance, strength in the legs, and ankle strength. They both use the same muscles, so ballet really helps figure skaters. Flexibility, balance, body alignment/posture, extension, and strength are just another reason to incorporate ballet to your figure skating. Many of the poses in skating are found in ballet, for instance arabesque, leaps, Rond de Jambe, Pli, etc. Ballet teaches the skater how to move the pelvis without losing balance or disconnecting the center in footwork sequences, including pirouette turns, jumps and leaps across the floor.

The entire foundation of ballet is poise and posture gained through core strength, making it the best way to learn how to present oneself and become graceful and elegant on the ice. Ballet helps with beauty and grace. Ballet dancers have a natural elegance in the way they carry themselves. The way their legs, back, arms, hands, feet, shoulders, and neck are aligned, always seems to have that flair grace. They have great posture.

Figure skating is ballet on ice. It can be one of the off ice training you implement to your skating for form and balance. Ballet uses body, mind and expression and while on the ice you have to express yourself as well. With ballet, you have a broader sense of how to perform, and to interpret and express your music as you tell your story or convey your emotion through the connecting steps of the program. This is what make the difference between a program that is all jumps with a lot of crossovers or stroking between the jumps, and a program that is interesting, artistic and pleasant to watch. Just as a dancer sweeps you away with her grace and flow and hides her/his sweat with a flourish, a skater will prepare you for a delicate show of artistry, acrobatic leaps and gentle arabesques.

The following is a brief summary of common terms and positions with which skaters should be familiar.

Rond de Jambe - A rotary movement of the leg.
It can be done in a number of ways, such as on the
floor with knee straight, or in air with a circular
rotation of the knee from bent to straight.

Pli - A bending of the knees with hips, legs, and
feet turned outward.

Arabesque - A position in which the dancer
stands on one leg with the other leg extended in a
straight line to the rear. The position of the arms
and the height of the raised leg may vary.
There are certain set positions in ballet for the
arms and particularly for the feet which give the
ballet dancer a particularly pleasing aspect as well
as providing a starting point for particular moves
and interchanges.
Skaters who have a background in ballet
should be able to transfer the positions and
principles from ballet to skating.

Foot Positions
There are five basic ballet foot positions that
are common to all teaching methods.
The feet point either in opposing directions either
in a straight line, or offset with one foot in front of
the other.

One of the most important things you can do in a scene is find the conflict. Whether it is a monologue (internal conflict) or a scene with a partner (external conflict) there is always something that is at stake for the character you are playing. Think of it this way, if there is no conflict in a scene why are you watching it? People do not want to see everyday activities, they want to see drama.

With that being said, the question of how to find the conflict arises. First off let's define what conflict is. Conflict is two opposing forces trying to get what they want at the same time. For instance, one character wants a bag of money and the other character wants the same bag. This creates dramatic tension as both the characters will try by whatever means necessary to get that bag of money! What makes the scene interesting is the conflict between the two characters and the bag of money. If they both decided to share the bag of money and went happily on their way, there would be no reason to watch. It would be absolutely and excruciatingly boring.

People watch movies and plays to be transported away from reality. They watch it because it is often times much more interesting than their everyday life. If you do not find what your character wants in the scene then you might as well not even be in it. It will be boring and unentertaining without knowing exactly what forces are opposing you and how to overcome them. However, if you know what your objective is and you know how to attain it, it will add brilliant dimensions to an otherwise dull and pointless character. Think about scenes that really stand out in film or theatre and what makes them so great. Usually it is the tension between the two characters over something very important at stake. Don't take my word for it, just watch some of the great films and the conflict that gives them life.

Aerobic exercise is used for weight loss by millions of people from around the world. The term "aerobic" actually means "with air (or oxygen)" and it refers to the fact that the muscles work without reaching the anaerobic (without oxygen) state that accompanies a heavy lifting or long-distance running routine. But for most of us, the term aerobic has come to mean a dance-like routine done with music, often at a gym.

Aerobics for weight loss can be fun.

It can be a little intimidating to watch an experienced aerobics class at the gym. If you haven't done any exercise for years, or if you're overweight, it may seem absolutely impossible to move that fast for so long. And you can easily convince yourself that you aren't coordinated enough.

However, aerobic activity, especially aerobic routines, can be wonderful for helping you lose weight. After your weight loss, these exercises can help you maintain your weight. So find a beginners class at your local gym or YWCA, or get started at home with one of the many videos especially created to teach aerobics for weight loss.

Also be sure to remember that the aerobics dance routines are not the only aerobic activities that help you lose weight. Walking, swimming, biking, and the martial arts all use muscles aerobically - and all are also excellent for your heart. Aerobic dance routines are great, but there are other ways to get your heart-smart exercise.

In order to lose fat you must stick to whatever you do. Try to do the same routine for some weeks and then expect results.

Intros, Endings and Turnarounds for Keyboard: Essential Phrases for Swing, Latin, Jazz Waltz, and Blues Styles

Learn the intros, endings and turnarounds that all of the pros know and use! This new keyboard instruction book by John Valerio covers swing styles, ballads, Latin tunes, jazz waltzes, blues, major and minor keys, vamps and pedal tones, and more.
Customer Review: This book is fun ...
The book has well written, very musical phrases. The author suggests usage with several standards that should be in everyone's play book and it's fun to work them in with tunes you already know - in the proper keys. Take them apart, and there is something to learn in most of them. Great for browsing. The printing is good and the binding isn't troublesome on the rack. Nice experience. I would have rated it a five, but some of the pages have a tendency to work loose.
Customer Review: I love this book
I try to spend a half hour with it every night. This book will appeal to a wide range of interests. Whether you are a composer interested in theory, or a keyboardist enhancing your chops, there is something here for you. Most examples are four-measures long, but rich in musicality (kind of like what the Bach chorales are for those studying classical music.) The examples progress from simple chord progressions to more complex, and each is one is clearly explained. Nice melodies too! It is apparent that the author has spent a lot of time with each of the sub-genres (swing, ballads, blues, Latin, etc.) and has distilled his knowledge into a neat recipe book that will serve as a launching point for those wishing to further their expertise.

There is nothing like watching salsa dancers. They are so confident, sexy and dynamic. The music makes you want to get out there and dance too. So let's go. Yes, you! You can do this! Everybody has a little Salsa in their soul.

Like its culinary namesake, the Salsa is spicy and complex in flavor, yet surprisingly easy to create. Salsa can combine elements of several different dances such as the Mambo, the Cha Cha, the Rumba, Jazz and Latin Ballroom, among others. Salsa is a free and expressive dance that is continually evolving as newer and more diverse elements are incorporated into the style. Salsa has become extremely popular all over the world. You can go to a Salsa club just about anywhere you go now. From Sydney to Shanghai, everyone is learning to Salsa.

When you first become drawn to Salsa and begin to think about taking some classes, you may be a little intimidated. Salsa dancers with years of experience can make the most complex footwork and turn patterns look effortless, but that's not how any of them started. We all start at the beginning, and the beginning is just as fun as the more advanced moves you see in competitions. You don't have to learn any of the more elaborate moves to feel right at home in a Salsa club.

In a beginning Salsa class you and your partner will learn not only some basic steps and other body positions, but how to feel the music and begin to express the music through your body. There is a basic body rhythm and some easy footwork that will become second-nature to you very quickly. Rather than being a little unsure when you go out Salsa dancing, you will be able to go out on the dance floor right away. You will be surprised to see how a few simple movements will make you fit right in at any Salsa club.

Watch the other people at the Salsa clubs when you go out dancing after you've taken a few Salsa classes. You may be really surprised to see that some of the moves that seemed complex a few weeks ago don't look quite as difficult that you once thought. That turn that looked so difficult the last time you saw it is just a modified version of the turn you learned in class. It will just take a bit of practice. You and your partner will probably be able to learn some more advanced moves just by having fun at the club.

Once you learn the basics and get more comfortable at the Salsa club, you can take some advanced classes and learn more elaborate footwork. Then you'll really be able to show off your dancing skills when you go out with your friends.

No matter whether you just take a few classes to learn the basics of Salsa or go on to advanced classes, the enjoyment you will get out of learning to Salsa is something you will have for the rest of your life.

Want to learn to dance? Wish you could move your body confidently on the dance floor? Or would you just like to have a great excuse to get out and meet people? Well for all of the above come and visit Dance Vogue where professional dancer and teacher Natalie Beck show you how to take the next step.

If you have your wedding around the corner and are worried about that first dance, Natalie has a lot of experience helping couples get confident and looking great dancing together in a short period of time. Have a look at her wedding dance lessons to get up to speed.

He once said: ""Getting to work in the field you want to work in is such luck ... It's a privilege. The 100 metres and the 4x100 metre relay have given me a chance to push my limits, to go down into the core of myself to find the strength to achieve my goals. I think perseverence is the key to my success. When things went badly, the disappointment was a source of motivation." Like many foreign-born Canadians, Bruny loves his country. He established the Bruny Surin Foundation, which is dedicated to helping children in need with education and physical health. Currently, he is Goodwill Ambassador for Quebec (Canada).

In the past, if you said the word plan to me, I would bolt and run. Im the creative type, a former ballet dancer and choreographerIm terrible with details. When I was dancing professionally, all the details were taken care of; all I had to do was show up and dance. Even when I was choreographing, as long as I met my deadline for when the dance needed to be complete, I could go with the moment, go with the impulse and see where the dance led.

A hearty dose of reality hit when I began to run a dance company. All of a sudden, I had peopleemployees, volunteers and dancerswaiting. I had to know where we were going and how we were going to get there. It was a different world. Every decision had impact down the line. If we were going to have a spring season, I needed to know what we would be performing and where wed be performing it. How many dancers would I need? What about costumes? Were we going to commission music? What would it cost? How would we pay for it all?

It took a long time for me to grasp the impact of having a plan. Because I was running a small, grass roots organization, there never seemed to be enough time, people, money or resources. I was always putting out fires. Every plan I developed changed the moment I keyed in the last sentence and printed it out. Planwho has time to plan? Especially when the plan keeps changing!

Over time, I began to see the planning process as a road map. You know your ultimate goal. You figure out the best way to get there. Your plan needs to include contingencies and have enough space that you can deal with fires and still move forward. And sometimes, the plan changes; it might need some adjustment or tweaking. As long as the goal remains the same and as long as you keep taking steps forward to achieve that goal, your plan will help you get there.

In sales, your goal is revenue-driven. How much money do you want to make? Or a better question: How much profit do you want to make? Then, how are you going to achieve that?

Your basic plan should start with a dollar amount and work backwards. If, for example, you want to gross $500,000 in sales this year, on average, how many sales would that be? What is your average sale? On average, how many prospects do you have to see or speak with to close one sale? So, how many prospects would you need to see or speak with to close the number of sales you would need to reach your goal of $500,000? What steps do you need to take to see or speak with that many prospects?

Wow! What a mouthful! Here is a mathematical formula:

First:

Value of average sale =______________

How many prospects to close one sales: _______________

Then:

Gross sales average sale = total number of sales needed

Number of prospects to close one sale x total number of sales needed = total number of prospects

(This formula is from a dancer who counts up to 8 and starts over again! If I can do ityou can do it!)
