This is the Cd by Coldplay where they take their music and make a lullaby for babies. I bought it for my son's sister-in-law who had a baby. I got a very positive response from the parents and they are late 20s to early 30's. So I bought more for my kids for future grandchildren. I highly recommend it as it is nice for the parents also.

The ironic thing about the situation is the engineer admits now that he did nothing different on that bass sound than he had on the numerous other records he had done. Of course, no one cared much about the bass sound on the other records. It turns out that the only change in the equation was the song and the player. The engineer said that this one particular bass player just sounds that damn good. He has magic hands and no one else comes close.

This takes me to my review of the Sansamp Bass DI. I bought this pedal about the same time I bought my first microphone, so I've had it for years and years. Before I get into it's tone, I must say that bass is something that totally eludes me. Maybe it's just my guitar player instinct, but I never seam to record a bass sound that impresses me all that much. I'm not sure what the problem is, but more than likely the answer to my question was in the first two paragraphs of this article.

I wanted to blame my recording gear such as the Sansamp Bass DI for me not achieving a bass sound that I really liked. However, I'm starting to think that this is not the case. I read the forums where the big dogs hang out. Someone once asked about the Sansamp Bass DI. I was amazed at how many people truly loved it. I'm talking about engineers who had 20 platinum records on their wall. These guys usually refute anything that's not $3,000 but it seamed that no one had anything negative to say about the Sansamp Bass DI. Impressive.

So I sat down one day to play with my Sansamp. To be honest, I never played with the knobs too much on this pedal. I guess it's a little ridiculous, but I just haven't learned what truly sounds good on a bass. I think the biggest problem with my bass sounds (besides the variety of bass players) has been the quality of the basses. Almost every bass that I record with a DI has this over the top, unusable low end that just sounds like crap. While a few bass sounds do make the subs in the car go to town, I find that most of the time, the bass sound is up above the subwoofer level. It's in the low mids region.

I've been experimenting with knocking out a ton of the lows with the Sansamp and I'm getting closer to what I'm looking for. The tone controls on the Sansamp really do seam to do something cool. They do offer a lot of flexibility. I find it easier in my brain to twist a few knobs on a pedal to extreme settings ( if necessary) than I do using a parametric eq plugin.

So for me, I can't give the Sansamp a tremendous review. Honestly, I can't give a review at all right now. I've not hit the bass sound that I'm looking for, but I'm going to keep trying until I find it. I'm not sure that the Sansamp is the cause or the blame for the this.

With that being said, the best bass sound I've ever gotten was done with a very good bass player with a very good bass. We ran him straight into a Vintech 1272 preamp and it did sound excellent. For whatever reason the Vintech preamp did sound much better than the Presonus M80 I was using. The difference was night and day. It's very possible that the preamp you use the Sansamp DI with could make a huge difference in tone. I think the big engineers like it because it has all the knobs right there so they can fool with them as they choose.

Simple awesome movie and I was really enthralled by the charisma, the energy of the lead actor. The movie as such is similar to many 80's dance movies but being a Salsa dancer I enjoyed this one so much more. I now keep it in my laptop and watch the opening scene every time I need some positive feel or want to get into the mood of hitting the dance floors. Highly recommended to the Salseros.

I bought this because my teenage son and his girlfriend loved Take The Lead and were interested in learning more about latin dancing. The dancing is marginal but the dialogue and acting are TERRIBLE! We couldn't watch it after the first 20 minutes - even the teenagers who, quite frankly, are not the best judges of acting!

As a professional musician seeking to broaden the scope of what I play this book was just the ticket. Very sensibly laid out, easy to follow and some great Montunos to get you underway. A practical useable book and great with the CD to play along with.

The emergence of hip-hop in the early 70's produced four elements, which continue to be mainstays of the genre: disc jockeying or a DJ, break dancing, emceeing or an MC, and graffiti art. How prominent are these elements today and how were they represented during BET's first annual hip-hop awards in Atlanta? Upon acceptance of the "I Am Hip-Hop Icon Award," rap pioneer, Grandmaster Flash paid homage to a host of DJs. According to Flash, DJ's were once the gatekeepers between the record labels and the streets. In 1996, thriving regional radio stations that reflected a community's heart and soul were replaced by media conglomerates with syndicated play lists. Followed by a myriad of changes in music distribution and leadership at radio stations and record labels, the fire that fueled hip-hop's reputation began to fade. To maintain integrity, Flash encouraged a shifting to the way things use to be--where new music was received and circulated by the DJs. Knowing that DJs spend all of their time in tune with the streets via clubs and parties, Flash commented, "It makes sense that [DJs] break a record." Flash also admonished MCs to allow DJs to perform on stage. "The template was designed for DJs to play a part," he said. Embodying the original template, Atlanta's DJ Drama, was among several DJs who held it down on stage alongside notable MCs. Even though break dancing and poppin' are nostalgic forms of hip-hop both are visible in varying forms of dances including the Bay Area's hyphy. Newer dances that help hip-hop maintain its hype include snap, shoulder lean, motorcycle, and chicken noodle soup. DJ Unk and the Big Oomp Camp showed attendees just how easy it was to walk-it-out in sync. While MCs abound in every corner of the globe, talent comparable to the innovators who dominated the 80's and 90's is hard to come by. As hip-hop aficionados anticipate "the new," music executives search desperately for the one or ones who will carry the hip-hop torch to the next phase. Invariably, advances in technology and a shortage of lyricists who have solid albums have caused a noticeable erosion of hip-hop's staying power.

For the past six years, hip-hop was the top-selling genre over R&B and country music and was second only to rock music. This year's lack-luster Billboard ratings are a warning sign of the genre's potential to slow to a lull until new life respires. Pending change, BET Hip-Hop award recipient, Common is the current standard for aspiring lyricists. Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, and T.I. are among his peers. Graffiti art was once an economic menace to society. For years, buildings, buses, trains, sidewalks, etc., were regular targets for unwanted and unappreciated artist tags. Today, graffiti art is perhaps the most embraced aspect of the hip-hop culture. New canvases of the profitable, permanent, and mobile enterprise now include skin (by way of tattoos), clothing, and vehicle wraps. Among the many artists profiling their "tag" or some else's during the awards were The Game, Nelly, Jim Jones, Chamillionaire, T.I., and Juelz Santana. As it relates to the four elements of hip-hop, BET's hip-hop award show recognized exceptional work and contribution to the hip-hop genre by acknowledging the Producer of the Year, Lyricist of the Year, Hip-Hop Dance of the Year, and Director of the Year. Have you ever been to a wedding that had no music? It's like a day without sunshine. Music is the heart of most cultures - it's an enhancement of your "Day in the Sun". You certainly do not want anyone to remember your wedding as a dour event- the one wedding that they went to without a full ensemble of music. In terms of music for the aisle and music for the reception - who rocks your reception?

Most marrying couples often do not give much thought to ceremony music. With the exception of "Here Comes the Bride" there are not many songs that are directly associated with the wedding ceremony. However now more and more couples are spicing up their ceremony with a variety of songs, musicians and singers. Even the standard - the organ - is taking a back seat to other musical instruments - including horns, strings and even the elegant musical organ "the Harp".

As for your wedding reception and banquet "Who Will Rock Your Reception?" It can be said that the size, formality and budget of your wedding should help to determine the type of entertainment that you can host at your reception and reception banquet. At a very formal affair, there may be a strolling accordionist or violinist or alternatively a piano player can provide "background "music as the meal is served. If you are having your reception in a private home or backyard, homemade tapes piped through a good stereo system or laptop computer can provide plenty of music to dance to.

Once you decide on the kinds of music that you want played at your wedding it is time to think about who will play it . You may already have someone in mind. Alternately you may have someone who decides that you do not want to have involved.

Every family has their own "Ted Stevens" or similar type character who believe that they have god's gift at entertainment whether it be their own music collection and they imagine and fantacize that they are a professional DJ disk jockey or alternatively that they have great professional entertainment skills - perhaps they view themselves as a world class entertainer or impersonator of famous people and celebrities. The basic rule is to be firm and consistent with these types. Thank them for their input and help but move onwards and away from such a debacle.

You may already have someone in mind already, such as the DJ who played at an acquaintance's wedding and did an exceptional memorable job, or perhaps a favorite local band. If you do not have any ideas, an indeed are short of ideas in this area - then it never hurts to ask. Word of mouth and the grapevine are often very reliable. The key here is to ask a number of people. Consistency is everything when it comes to presentation. Ask friends, relatives and co-workers. Perhaps they have thrown a wedding recently or have attended one where the music was memorable and impressed them. Indeed often the best bands and DJs are so popular and booked up that they do not need to advertise of promote themselves. Their reputation carries them. In these cases - book early. If you still find it difficult to find a good reference talk to your wedding coordinator or your wedding site coordination contact. They will have seen a lot of musical entertainment over their careers and should have no problem pointing you in the right directions. One last option is to ask around at local music outlets, online, at the music departments of local colleges and even your local musician's association.

A wedding or a wedding reception without music can be said to "lacking something". It just misses the mark. Take care and attention for the music arrangements at your wedding and wedding reception. After all your wedding day is "Your Day in the Sun."
