Customer Review: My own "Whipped Cream" fantasy
I have fond memories of this album from my childhood. I remember my mother trying to hide the album cover because it was so racy for the times(at least in So. LA). But the folks did play it often. The music is still great. It sound as wonderful today as it did forty years ago. It stands the test of time.
Customer Review: Yummy Whipped Cream
Herb Alpert is one of the great trumpet players and this album shows that. I could listen to him for hours.

More than most factors, music can shape the mood of your wedding service and reception in a really big way. This is particularly so with string quartet and instrumental ensemble music.

The beauty of hiring a string quartet is the versatility of what they can play. Literally, any music classical or popular, (within reason), can be adapted for use by a string quartet. Moreover, string ensemble music provides the perfect backdrop for such a special occasion.

Do you want to relax your guests as they arrive? Complement the conversations during your wedding meal? Don't forget that string quartet music can also accompany an organist or other musicians during the wedding ceremony itself.

If your venue is small or your budget is tight, consider a string quintet or trio in lieu of a string quartet. The difference is only a violin player - plus or minus!

It's imaginative to involve quite different styles of music over the duration of your ceremony and reception. For example, you may want to start the church service with guests being met by a piper, (if it's a Scottish wedding), or a classical rendition from a string quartet just prior to the proceedings commencing. Also what about a jazz band for a bit of gusto after the speeches?

During the reception itself, string quartet instrumental music is a wonderful accompaniment during the meal, when guests want to have a conversation along with the soothing backdrop of great instrumental music

From experience, we recommend that you select a wedding band, jazz band, swing band or an entertainment group that you've personally chosen to start the proceedings proper during the all important, dancing phase of the reception. Alternatively, if your budget is limited you may want to select a string quartet plus disco.

What will you need for wedding day music?

For the most part, this question will be answered by six factors:

The size of your budget.

Do you want a lot of special requests?

The availability of good local bands, string quartets and musicians.

The logistics of your venue and the size of your wedding party.

Your desire to have a live vocalist present.

The amount of dancing that you'll want during your wedding.

If you are planning to have live music at your wedding - consider the following:

Does your chosen band or string quartet have recordings of tracks that you can listen to?

Do they have testimonials that can be seen and if necessary, can you have the opportunity to speak to people who have hired the band previously?

Is there enough space for the string quartet or band at the venue? Is the venue big enough and are the acoustics suited to the sounds of your band?

Will extra PA and sound systems be required to be hired - where they are not being provided by the band or quartet?

What will the band be wearing? For example, if you've hired a string quartet, will the players be in black or white tuxedos.

Are back up musicians available in case one of the band or string quartet has to drop out at short notice?

Is the bandleader, or dance caller, willing and able to act as M.C. and organise the evening's entertainment, direct guests and convey announcements etc?

Who is the leader of the band - and can they be contacted easily prior to the event?

Who will be the responsible person for the band or string quartet at the reception?

What is the total charge? What is the deposit? When and in what payment form is the final balance due?

If you can afford it, wouldn't it be great to have a band and string quartet playing in an alternating fashion or in different parts of the venue?

Will you or the band want a break whilst an evening buffet is being served, for example?

To conclude, music is frequently the last service to be booked for a wedding. Yet it is so important to the ambiance and atmosphere of such a special occasion. At the very least you should consider the possibility of string quartet music alongside a function band or disco. The beauty of string quartet instrumental music is that it can be provided in popular, contemporary or classical styles.

A quartet can play during the ceremony itself - in tandem with a church organist. Whilst, during the welcoming and wedding meal stages of the reception, string quartet music can provide a wonderful romantic backdrop to the occasion.

If your guests are staying overnight at your hotel venue - what about surprising them with beautiful string quartet instrumentals first thing in the morning as they eat their breakfast. Soothing classical music is a sure way to relieve the effects of a wedding hangover.

Finally, don't be afraid to negotiate with a band leader. It's important that you get what you require at a price that's acceptable to you. However, remember that good bands and string quartets cost money and often a cut in costs can only be done when cheaper alternatives are considered.

Good luck with planning your wedding day.

God Put a Smile Upon Your Face

Full title - God Put A Smile Upon Your Face. Exclusive Australian single from their 2002 album, 'Rush of Blood to the Head', is b/w three exclusive non-LP tracks, 'Murder', 'Politik' (Live), & a cover of the Echo & the Bunnymen's 'Lips Like Sugar' (Live). Copy Controlled. Capitol. 2003.
Customer Review: Probably the best compliation
Okay, I haven't really felt the need to review any of Coldplay's stuff, despite a certain affinity for the band. I had to remedy that for this single, as it quite literally brought a dream to life. But I'll get to that in a moment. "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" isn't their best song. Of course, I can't think of a "bad" Coldplay song, you can really only compare their songs to one another. This song is very melancholy and wonderful, it's just no "Yellow" or "Green Eyes". "Murder" is a good song. I didn't really catch anything that stood out, but I'll definitely give it another listen. "Politik" live is lovely, with a minute and a half intro before they get to the infamous opening guitar. And the gem of the album, the final track. I saw the cover of the single and went "Hm, new import. Bonus." Then I saw the sticker claiming "Contains all new Live versions of "Politik" and "Lips Like Sugar". I dropped what I was holding, stunned. For those of you who don't know, "Lips Like Sugar" is a song by Echo and the Bunnymen, one of Chris's favorite bands. Before I'd heard of Coldplay, I was an Echo and the Bunnymen buff. "Lips Like Sugar", bar none, is my favorite song. And apparantly, Coldplay agrees, since Chris introduces it by saying, "Here we go, this is one of the greatest songs in the world." And he's quite correct. Chris does an excellent job covering the vocals, never trying to imitate Ian's work on the original. the rest of the band plays the song spectacularly, a slightly faster version that the Bunnymen themselves do live. As I stated previously, this was a dream come true. Ever since I heard "Parachutes", I knew Coldplay and the Bunnymen had to do an album together. And while this isn't quite the same, it's still wonderful to hear. And a note to Ian, Will, and the gang: I think hearing you guys cover "Spies" would be awesome.

The difference between the Basic, the Intermediate and the Advanced levels of dancing proficiency are defined by more than just their core curriculums. In the aviation world, for example, it is the difference between driving an airplane and flying one! A basic pilot can fly straight and level, climb, descend, and turn. An intermediate pilot can combine these basic "stick and rudder" airwork fundamentals with good airspeed control and make acceptable take offs and landings; however, only an advanced pilot can take full advantage of his airplane's capabilities by being able to fly it safely to the edge of its performance curve. Switching our focus now from the cockpit back to the dance floor, let's put the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced levels of swing dancing into their proper perspective by looking at them within the context of the four stages of awareness in the process of learning to dance.

1) UNCONSCIOUS INCOMPETENCE: At this first stage of awareness, a dancer has never given the subject of swing dancing any conscious thought. He has never been formally introduced to it and, although he may be quite adept at other styles of dancing like freestyle or Country and Western, for example, until he takes his first Basic level swing dance class, he is really at a stage of unawareness because he is simply unconscious of his incompetence.

2) CONSCIOUS INCOMPETENCE: At this second stage of awareness, the new male dancer or "leader," has been formally introduced to swing dancing at his club and he now fully appreciates its social and recreational potential. He has taken several Basic level classes but he realizes that his performance is marginal at best and that he needs to take many more swing dance classes and workshops to sharpen his skills. He is grateful for any helpful tips that might improve his dancing; for example, he may determine his lead hand by looking to see which thumb and forefinger form the letter "L." This is the awkward stage for the new swing dancer. His hand-leads are generally too strong and his body movements tend to be too stiff and mechanical to suit all but the least experienced of his female partners or "followers." At this point in his training, he is more prone to be repeatedly answering the question: "how long have you been dancing" rather than "where do you dance." All in all, the conscious incompetent clings to his patty-cake, the think-step pattern like a new western horseback rider clings to his saddle horn.

3) CONSCIOUS COMPETENCE: At this third stage of awareness, the male dancer has completed all of the Basic and Intermediate level classes offered by his club, and he is now an accomplished, well rehearsed dancer. He almost always executes his triple step footwork flawlessly in every direction to varying tempos of the music; he seldom misses that important "3 and 4" count of his footwork that often eludes less experienced dancers, and he has developed a gentle yet firm lead that guarantees him a willing partner for every dance. All in all, he has developed into a smooth dancer who confidently performs the different swing patterns that he has learned over the years. The conscious competent leader knows what he is doing!

4) UNCONSCIOUS COMPETENCE: At this final, fourth stage of awareness, the male dancer has achieved the highest level of proficiency where he has cultivated a signature style that transcends being well rehearsed; instead, he has become just as intimately familiar with each inherent part of the patterns that he has learned over the years, as he is with the overall patterns themselves. As an advanced dancer, he can intuitively "mix and match" the specific handwork and footwork elements of different patterns to create new patterns, and he has the versatility to frequently intersperse steps from other dance disciplines to physically embrace the beat of the music. His extensive knowledge of the dance, combined with his fluid lead authority enables him to maneuver his partner to the edge of her capabilities so that as a couple, they are able to consistently deliver award winning performances. Simply put, the unconscious competent is the dancer that the dancers enjoy watching!

TEACHABILITY INDEX: How quickly a new dancer progresses through these four stages of competence depends upon how "teachable" he or she is! All of us may compute our own Teachability Index (TI) which is the product of the following two variables that are rated on a scale of "1" (lowest) to "10" (highest): our Willingness To Learn (WTL) and our Willingness To Change (WTC). If our willingness to learn how to "dance centered," for example, is a 10, but our willingness to change our body positioning to accomplish this goal is just a "5," then our Teachability Index is only 50% (WTL x WTC = 50)! In other words, the maximum effort that we made in class to LEARN the correct way to "dance centered" is half wasted if we are not willing to CHANGE the way we lead our partner! Always remember that both learning and change are the inseparable, twin handmaidens of dance proficiency.

Beautiful Ballet Dancing

Ballet is an art and it is different from other dance forms. Ballet is a specific dance form and technique. Many historians list dance as the oldest of the human art forms. When looking at dance it is very structured in its movements, when dance is set to a musical score for rhythm, you are able to see how the physical movements translate into joy and happiness. The movements of ballet beautify and create gracefulness throughout your limbs and body. Enchanting and graceful with unbelievable steps, ballet is an extremely difficult dance to learn perfectly.

An important part of the ballet dancers equipment is the ballet shoe, while the shoes are beautiful they are essential and important in the ballet dance. The ballet shoes are designed to be pleasing to the audience and mostly they are designed to function for the dancers. Ballet shoes typically do not last very long and have a short life, but the shoes were designed to help the dancer move with implausible strength and grace while dancing. Pointe shoes, in many ways, can be considered an extension of the dancer. When purchasing ballet shoes keep in mind that leather last longer than canvas, if you do purchase the shoes in canvas you will need to replace them more often. Another decision that must be made for ballet flat shoes is the type of closure on them. When taking ballet classes the teacher or instructor might have color, type and brand requirements, so check before purchasing. When just starting out and learning ballet it is not important to purchase the most expensive shoes, purchase your ballet shoes at a discount store, if you like it you can always purchase more expensive shoes.

Beginning students for any type of activity always look ahead and imagine the day when they will be able to wear pointe shoes. Ballet shoes are not a normal looking dance shoes they have an odd shape and with a flat section in the front of the shoe but they are designed in this fashion to help the dancer stand on their toes. There are several elements involved in the anatomy of a pointe shoe, all of which contribute to its fit and performance. When first starting out in ballet and you will need to purchase ballet shoes, you will not need pointe shoes until you reach a more advanced level..

Tights come in a variety of colors, with the most popular being pink and black. Ballet dancers usually wear either tights or leotards for comfortable body maneuver. The tights that Ballet dancers wear are tight-fitting which allows the fluid movement when the dancers are performing. Specialized ballet tights are often found in plain colors.

From the beginning of time dances such as ballet have been intertwined with music. Without music ballet is nothing more than the empty motions of a ritual. Such schools offer both beginners classes as well as classes for training professionals with live music accompanying instructions and training.

If your children are just starting ballet you might look to see if your town offers classes. Most of the time the town ballet classes that are offered are much more inexpensive than private lessons, and are a good way of determining if your child will like this type of dance.

According to the normal public as well as those who are financially sound, the definition of rap instrumental is something that dwells unconsciously in everybody's mind and has a somewhat literary effect though doubting on its originality. As an accepted fact, though it is one of the fastest spreading music's in today's world, doubt still reigns on its artistic effect.

This sort of music can be produced with or without a beat in any rhythm, provided it produces acceptable results. It's a fashionable or stylish music, so as to say, and its field is doubtfully divided among lyrics, song, prose and poetry. Rap instrumental music is said to have originated from West Africa and Jamaica and its is also known to be the originator of Celtic music.

Traditionally, there used to be rap battles, where Gaelic people got drunk and started to compete for the most insulting, humorous five-line poems having rhyme schemes, otherwise knowns as limericks, and the one who loses would have to buy the next round of drinks. A Scottish form of rap instrumental, "puirt a beul", was the predecessor of mouth organs. Rap instrumental was not influenced directly by the Scottish and the Irish because all its originators were African American.

And its believed that, in true form, rap instrumental has originated from America. A number of American instrumentals like jazz, rock, funk, etc were said to have originated from a mixture of the Celtic and African music, with a touch of Gaelic melodies. Rap instrumental come under the same category, so as to say. It gives stress on mouth music, vocal improvement and rhythm.

Rap instrumental had a great hand in the improvisation of the hip-hop culture. Initially, it began to be played in the street parties thrown in some particular area in New York in the 1970s by the Jamaicans and the sorts. These sort of parties laid the stepping stones for variety and paved way for authentic enjoyment. These parties organized a "dance hall", something sort of a disco and had a "Master of Ceremonies" who would go up on stage and hail encouragements in beat with the DJ to redeem and excite the excite the crowd for more fanfare and enjoyment. With the passage of time, these kind of encouragements started lengthening and became more and more complicated in the form of poetry formed vocally and finally this type of music came to be known as rap instrumental.

Right from day one, rap instrumental is known to be accepting music from different states and religions without bar.

One thing that is very different about rap instrumental is that, its never sung, its always chanted or spoken with rhythm and music, making it seem like a song. No original music, no musicians, no instruments are required to create music for rap. All it needs is bits and pieces of already existing music and sounds here and there joined together to create a melody. The lyrics in rap is always simple to understand, energetic, repetitive and usually apt in making loud and harsh noise. And these lyrics praise the existence and art of rap instrumental.
