Origin:

Rumba has two origins: Spanish as well as African. Rumba was first danced by African slaves as early as the 16th century. The Rumba folk dance had sexual connotations with the male having a sexually agressive attitude and the female having a deffensive attitude. It gaining popularity in Latin America in the 1920s.

Music:

Like Salsa, Rumba music is played in 4/4 but the music is much slower at just over 100 bpm. Traditionally, Rumba is danced on the second beat with a pause on the first beat although American style Rumba is danced on the first beat. The forth beat is usually accentuated.

Dance:

Rumba is primarily a sex pantomime. The hip movements are quite exaggerated, especially for the men. The men have a sexually agressive attitude in the dance and the women have a sexually deffensive attitude. The women usually dance with a hankerchief in their hands which is waved in front of the body enticing the men, but when the men react the women quickly "cover up". Traditionally, the men "attack" with their hips by getting very close to the women, but some variations allow men to "attack" with other parts and from a distance!

Latinos NZ Popularity Scale: 3/10

Rumba is not a very popular dance in New Zealand's Latin clubs, primarily because Kiwis are fairly reserved on the dance floor. But, as more and more dancers learn the dance it is definitely becoming more popular!

Rumba is the dance of love and sex. So, don't be scared to have some fun!

Many figure skating moves and techniques are based on ballet. Skaters who have a background in ballet should be able to transfer the positions and principles from ballet to skating. It is precisely this closeness to dance, and especially to ballet, that sets ice skating apart from any other sport. Although ballet and skating are similar, you have to think of them as two different worlds. There are many moves in skating that are similar to ballet, but you will have to break some ballet rules to get it right in skating.

The skater needs a strong core body to connect the upper and lower body for controlled powerful movements. He must be able to keep his shoulders over his hips throughout jumps, spins, footwork and edges. He must also be able to check his shoulders against his hips. Thus it is to the skater's benefit to become aware of the feeling of twisting in the middle of the torso, and also the feeling of staying square.

Figure skating and ballet require balance, strength in the legs, and ankle strength. They both use the same muscles, so ballet really helps figure skaters. Flexibility, balance, body alignment/posture, extension, and strength are just another reason to incorporate ballet to your figure skating. Many of the poses in skating are found in ballet, for instance arabesque, leaps, Rond de Jambe, Pli, etc. Ballet teaches the skater how to move the pelvis without losing balance or disconnecting the center in footwork sequences, including pirouette turns, jumps and leaps across the floor.

The entire foundation of ballet is poise and posture gained through core strength, making it the best way to learn how to present oneself and become graceful and elegant on the ice. Ballet helps with beauty and grace. Ballet dancers have a natural elegance in the way they carry themselves. The way their legs, back, arms, hands, feet, shoulders, and neck are aligned, always seems to have that flair grace. They have great posture.

Figure skating is ballet on ice. It can be one of the off ice training you implement to your skating for form and balance. Ballet uses body, mind and expression and while on the ice you have to express yourself as well. With ballet, you have a broader sense of how to perform, and to interpret and express your music as you tell your story or convey your emotion through the connecting steps of the program. This is what make the difference between a program that is all jumps with a lot of crossovers or stroking between the jumps, and a program that is interesting, artistic and pleasant to watch. Just as a dancer sweeps you away with her grace and flow and hides her/his sweat with a flourish, a skater will prepare you for a delicate show of artistry, acrobatic leaps and gentle arabesques.

The following is a brief summary of common terms and positions with which skaters should be familiar.

Rond de Jambe - A rotary movement of the leg.
It can be done in a number of ways, such as on the
floor with knee straight, or in air with a circular
rotation of the knee from bent to straight.

Pli - A bending of the knees with hips, legs, and
feet turned outward.

Arabesque - A position in which the dancer
stands on one leg with the other leg extended in a
straight line to the rear. The position of the arms
and the height of the raised leg may vary.
There are certain set positions in ballet for the
arms and particularly for the feet which give the
ballet dancer a particularly pleasing aspect as well
as providing a starting point for particular moves
and interchanges.
Skaters who have a background in ballet
should be able to transfer the positions and
principles from ballet to skating.

Foot Positions
There are five basic ballet foot positions that
are common to all teaching methods.
The feet point either in opposing directions either
in a straight line, or offset with one foot in front of
the other.

Customer Review: big mistake
YUK! I just recently started downloading mp3s and really screwed up when I bought this thinking it would be the Carlos Santana music I knew in the 60s. What else would "Ulitmate Santana" mean? Instead most of the album is just Santana accompanying some bozo singing stupid disco type songs. My bad. Remember, when it says "featuring so-and-so" it usually means you better like so-and-so and not care too much about who the titled performer is.
Customer Review: Great songs, but...
Carlos Santana has very few bad albums, or even bad songs. (Stay away from his collaboration with John McLaughlin though.) If you're looking for a one-disk compilation and are familiar with his later songs plus his late 60's hits, the songs here will be familiar. But... try Caravanserai, Borboletta, or some of his other unbelievable albums from "in between". If this is all you know of Carlos Santana, you have a lot to discover! What you hear on this disk is just an introduction. I give this review 4 stars rather than 5 not because there are bad songs on this CD (there aren't), but because you, as a Santana listener, deserve more.

Nadia Comaneci was a Romanian-born gymnast who won many Olympic medals. For many sportswriters, Nadia is the greatest athlete of all time. In the 1970s and early 80s, she was a member of the Romanian Olympic gymnastics team. When she was 13 years old, Nadia won four gold medals at the 1975 European Championship in Skien, Norway. She defeated Ludmilla Turishcheva (USSR), who won two Olympic and four world titles (1972-1974). Nadia Comaneci was discovered by Bela Karolyi. He said: "I was visiting the kindergarten that day and I saw two little six-year-old girls playing in the courtyard during the recreation period. They were running and jumping around, pretending they were gymnasts. Then the bell rang, and they ran into the school with all other little girls and I lost them. I knew I would never leave that school until I found those two little girls. I went into each class of that kindergarten looking for them. I went through twice without seeing them. The third time around I asked each class, 'Who loves gymnastics? In each class a few of the little girls would raise their hands. But in one class two of them sprang up and shouted, 'We do! We do!' and I had found them. One was Nadia Comaneci. The other one is now a very promising ballerina".

Said Aouita is a legendary athlete of the Kingdom of Morocco (Africa). He was one of the world's most famous runners. This Arab sportsperson won a gold medal in the 5000m at the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and set several world records in the 1980s (1,500m, 2,000m, 3,000m and 5,000m ). In the 1988 Olympics, he only won a bronze medal in the 800 metres. Said was the favourite to win three Olympic gold medals. In an interview with Michael Janofsky, published February 5, 1989 by the New York Times, he explained: "From the point of view of morale, it was a catastrophe that I lost in Seoul".

The Pakistani field hockey team has won two Olympic titles: 1960 and 1968. It also won the Field Hockey World Championship four times ( 1971, 1978, 1982, 1994).This country has won the Asian Tournament a record seven times: Tokyo'58, Jakarta'62, Bangkok'70, Tehran'74, Bangkok'78, New Delhi'82 and Beijing'90. In 1979, Pakistan won the World Junior Cup.

Kirsty Coventry, the Olympic champion of 2004, is the best African female athlete in history. She was born on September 16, 1983 in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe (former Rhodesia). Like many Latin American and African sportspeople, she currently lives and trains in the United States. Unfortunately, Zimbabwe is one of the Africa's poorest countries. She once said, "The USA experience was very useful for me, as I had a scholarship for the University of Auburn and the opportunity to have contact with the best female American swimmers. I could then constantly progress, and from Athens 2004 to be part of the world elite. I advise young swimmers of my continent to do the same in order to fulfil their dreams".

In 2002, she finished first in the 200m individual medley (2:14.53) at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester (United Kingdom). At the 2004 Olympics in Greece, Kirsty won 3 medals, including 1 gold. Her country did not win any Olympic medal since 1980. It was a surprise for the Olympic movement. This sportsperson also won six medals at the FINA World Championships (2005-2007). In July 2007, Kirsty became the "star" of the 9th African Games. Zimbabwe's Kirsty Coventry won 10 women's swimming medals. She said: "I was training very hard in Austin (Texas) with my coach Kim Brackin, but I wanted to represent my country at these Games. In 2003, I couldn't come and I had failed other continental competitions because of my university studies in Auburn. So, I am very happy to come back to the atmosphere of the African swimming family, eight years after my first participation in the African Games in Johannesburg in 1999".

Jefferson Leonardo Perez Quezada is a gold medalist who led an Ecuadorian sweep in the 20 kilometer walk at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996. This athlete won a gold medal at the 1997 Bolivarian Games in Arequipa, Peru. He is also three-time Pan American medalist who captured the gold in 20 kilometer walk at the 1995, 2003 and 2007 Pan American Games. Furthermore, he won a gold medal at the IAAF World Championship in Osaka (Japan) in 2007. He won two medals at the 1990 and 1992 World Junior Championships. The Latin American track and field star was born on July 1, 1974 in Cuenca, Ecuador (South America).

Customer Review: Not What I expected
I thought there is more on the dvd. This is poor... The "Making of" Is not a Making Of. It is just a little blabla...

Happy 75th to your Dad! How about having some "oldies" going in the background and have tables arranged so there can be dancing going on after dinner? Or sending guests a form (well before the party, with instructions to get that form back to you), and have each person write down a good memory involving your Dad. He will cherish these. You can put the filled out forms into book form (or put nicely into a scrapbook) and he can look back on this and enjoy it for many years.

It might be fun to dig up some info from the year he was born and stand up, maybe in between courses and announce what the price of milk was in the year Dad was born, who was president, the most popular music, dance, etc.

Some trivia games (with small prizes awarded to winners, perhaps), perhaps historical questions (again, around your dad's year of birth) or seeing who can answer the most questions about your Dad (questions can be as simple as his favorite food, color, favorite vacation, that type of thing).

Celebrating such a milestone is always a lot of fun. It's a time to reflect on the years past and share all the memories the family and friends have of the guest of honor.

Family trivia questions with dividing up the guests into teams can be lots of fun, and if you are someone you know are technically savvy you can put together slide show/video of his life from the begging until now...choose songs that fit the era the photos are from.

Get the entire family involved by making some very special memories for your dad. Ask each child and/or grandchild to write a one-page memoir of his or her most special memories. Then put them into a scrapbook and display it on a table for all to see. Guaranteed he will still be looking at it years to come.

You might want to have someone with a digital or Polaroid camera take photos of the guest in their black and white garb...in a simple white frame they have a nice little souvenir of the party.

To follow the theme you might do a short trivia game, teaming up guests, 3 to 4 to a team. Make all the questions about your wife ranging from very easy to impossible to answer. Guests get into a very competitive mood and have a lot of fun trying to answer the most questions correctly.

At the "sound of the bell" or time's up whistle teams pass their answer sheet to the team to the right (does this sound a lot like school??) and the answers are corrected. Prizes for the team that gets the most correct. Trivia questions should be from her childhood (family and oldest friends can answer those) her school days, her work days, and her current life. About 20 questions are good.

Those are both activities that are fun and memorable. Then with the visiting, music, food and drink you will have a beautiful beach party.

Vaginal itching - How many women have found them self in a situation where the urge to relieve an itch around their private parts becomes so unbearable that they had to leave the room to relieve the urge (scratch) so not to cause embarrassment to them self or that of others in their company. Remember ladies that trying to disguise the discomfort by tightening the legs to squeeze the life out of the vaginal itch is not the best approach to claim relief. If you attempt this course of action then there is a strong possibility that an onlooker may see you as doing the rumba, which is not really an acceptable image of yourself if standing in a bus queue.

An itchy vagina can become painful if the skin around the affected area is rubbed red raw through clawing. A tingling sensation and irritation of the skin around the vagina.(vulva) is how the condition is described Not only is vaginal itching annoying it tempts the patient to scratch with aggression. Hygiene is profound; the hands should be cleaned before scratching and after. Dirty finger nails that tear the skin cause infection.

Causes behind vaginal itching are varied but most common known are chemical irritants contained in certain products. Content based chemicals that come in contact with the skin which encourage irritation are detergents, fabric softeners, feminine sprays, ointments, douches, contraceptive foams or jellies.

One recognized symptom of vaginal yeast infection is a discharge - white in colour and curd-like texture. Known yeast infection causers are antibiotics, birth control tablets, menstruation, pregnancy and diabetes, even condom use and sexual intercourse. However use a condom when engaging in sex. A weak immune system can make you susceptible to infection.

Vaginitis means inflammation of the vagina, should you suffer from the disorder then cause can be blamed on the presence of an infection. Noticeable changes in your discharge i.e. smell and colour, burning feeling in the vagina, discomfort when urinating or during sex are all symptoms of vaginitis. A common cause is thrush infection (a fungus -candida albicans).

Stress can increase vaginal itching making you more prone to infection. A drop in estrogen causes thinning of the vaginal wall and less lubrication while going through the menopause. Vaginal itching can occur from one of the many named causes, however, determining which cause is important so the appropriate medication is prescribed. A rare reason for vaginal/vulva itch include: pin-worms, pin-worms more often than not are parasites more known to affect children.

Keep the genital area clean and dry. Use unscented soap when washing. Make sure smellies used to bathe in (bubble bath) contain no irritants. Avoid perfumed feminine sprays and douches unless packaging states otherwise.

Cotton knickers are safer to wear than panties made from synthetic materials. Cleanse your self by wiping from front to back after using the toilet (vagina to anus).

It is easier said than done but do try to avoid scratching, scratching can aggravate. Even more difficult for some is to ration the passion, abstain from sexual encounters until the symptoms disappear. Yeast infections are not directed towards being sexually transmitted. The yeast infection is also known to affect men following sexual contact causing itching and redness.

Despite what you believe may be the right medication bought from the chemist to treat you`re infection, it is best to consult a doctor first. Seek medical advice if you notice signs of vaginal bleeding when not menstruating, swelling or detect a repulsive vaginal odor. A burning sensation when urinating or other urinary symptoms may be urinary tract infection. Antifungal drugs are normally prescribed for yeast infections.

Antibiotics in most cases are prescribed for bacterial vaginal infections and some sexually transmitted diseases, however, if protection is used it lessens the odds of catching an STD and also an unwanted pregnancy of which will definitely highlight the vagina for the next nine months.

Love, Actually

Customer Review: This is a crappy movie for jerks
Okay, so I bought this movie for my wife for Christmas. I might as well have punched her in the face instead. As stated above, there was no Coldplay music in the "film" and almost no VIDEO of the band either. They just found random people who (claimed) they knew the band members back in the day and they all told meaningless, mundane facts. Sample: Chris Martin is the singer for Coldplay. He also plays the piano. Let's hear what his school chum has to say... "Chris was a normal lad in school. He played the piano in school and was popular. " Isn't that fascinating? If you're ready for an hour of this exact sort of insight, overlaid frequently by early nineties-style editing (think middle school health class video) and extremely lame, pseudo-Coldplay music, then you, my friend, are in for a treat. The "producers" of this "film" owe Coldplay an apology. And, more importantly, owe me twenty bucks. Actually, make it thirty, just to make up for me actually having to watch it. If there was a way to give zero stars- or better, negative stars- I would.
Customer Review: Please do not waste your money
I was completely disappointed in this DVD. First of all it is an un-authorized DVD so there is no Coldplay music at all in the video. You will see mostly still photos of the band and it is 99 percent chat with "friends" of the band. Absolute waste of money. Misrepresented garbage.

Before you can spice up a marriage and inflame your passion, the basic ingredients of your relationship recipe need some attention. Spicy nights of steamy sex need to be tempered with sensual pleasuring sessions. By learning to enjoy the subtle sensations of loving intimacy together, you will both be able to more fully appreciate the full variety of erotic treats available to you. Sweet and delicious, hearty and satisfying, spicy hot or exotic and decadent, develop an appetite for everything on the sex menu as you sample and savor all the possible flavors of your intimate experiences together.

Make pleasure a priority in your relationship. Take time to enjoy each other with these succulent suggestions:

  1. Shower together.
Give your lover a sensual scalp massage while you shampoo and condition their hair. Lather your bodies up with soap and slither and slide against each other. Caressing each other while slick with soap can also feel amazing. Sex in the shower may be a bit awkward but can be very enjoyable. Try using a detachable massaging shower head for extra stimulation.
  2. Have a bubble bath together.
Arrange some candles, incense, soft music and maybe some chilled wine ahead of time. Set aside alone time for relaxing together in calm and soothing tranquility. Save the sex for later when you are dry and ready to cuddle in a comfy bed.
  3. Take hand in hand nature walks together.
Find time to get away from the bustle and stress of every day life. Moon or star light walks at night, strolling along a beach or water front, secluded picnics by a stream, or just wandering through a nature trail are times together that will strengthen your bonds of love and affection.
  4. Enjoy food intimately.
Prepare a tray with a number of different food items chosen for their texture, taste and smell. Include various fruit, syrups, whip cream, liquors and, of course, some refreshing drinks. One at a time, blind fold and feed each other samples with a focus on the taste sensation. See if they can guess what it is. Sensually apply some of the food to regions of your lover's body then lick or nibble it off.
  5. Appreciate an appetizing aroma.
An intoxicating smell can be very sexy and stimulate desire. Choose a favorite perfume or cologne that you each wear only for intimate nights together. Create a scent memory associated with romantic feelings that can get you in the mood in an instant. Play a hide and seek perfume game searching each other for a secretly applied scent. You can also delicately stroke your lover's face with a fresh rose bud or flower. Or just revel in your lover's natural scent laced with sex pheromones.
  6. Enjoy a candlelight dinner together.
Although dining out is wonderful now and then, preparing and cooking your own dinner together can be even more rewarding. Organize the meal items so that you can quickly get dressed in evening wear before dinner to make it even more special. Enjoy your food with soft music and candles to create a romantic atmosphere. And, if cooking at home, make it simple so there is little or no mess to clean up before enjoying each other.
  7. Slow dance naked together.
In a dark room with the soft glow of candle or moon light, slow dance naked to romantic music. Gently stroke and caress each other as you embrace and sway to the music. Kiss each other tenderly with loving affection and gaze into each others eyes. These quiet moments of intimacy can be very emotionally fulfilling.
  8. Give each other an oil massage.
The sensual feeling of fingers and palms gliding smoothly over oiled skin is highly erotic for both the giver and receiver of the massage. Although there are books on relaxing and erotic massage techniques, once you try it you will quickly discover what feels good. In addition to the obvious (back, shoulders and legs), give some attention to fingers, toes, chest and stomach before venturing to the eager erogenous zones.
  9. Indulge in the luxury of satin or silk on skin.
Wear silky smooth lingerie for women and boxers/shirts for guys. Caress your lover through the fabric and enjoy the sensual feel as body parts slide and glide across each other. Get naked in bed with satin or high thread count sheets and make love together in style.
  10. Experience super slow motion sex.
Rather than attempting to trigger an orgasm, focus on the sensations you feel during intercourse. Every twitch, throb and pulse. The warmth and wetness of your special union. Become aware of how even breathing creates subtle sensations in your loins.

Awaken your desires for sensual pleasure together and you will stimulate a renewed hunger for each other.

" Coldplay " : Live 2003 for Piano, Voice and Guitar

Have you ever been to a wedding that had no music? It's like a day without sunshine. Music is the heart of most cultures - it's an enhancement of your "Day in the Sun". You certainly do not want anyone to remember your wedding as a dour event- the one wedding that they went to without a full ensemble of music. In terms of music for the aisle and music for the reception - who rocks your reception?

Most marrying couples often do not give much thought to ceremony music. With the exception of "Here Comes the Bride" there are not many songs that are directly associated with the wedding ceremony. However now more and more couples are spicing up their ceremony with a variety of songs, musicians and singers. Even the standard - the organ - is taking a back seat to other musical instruments - including horns, strings and even the elegant musical organ "the Harp".

As for your wedding reception and banquet "Who Will Rock Your Reception?" It can be said that the size, formality and budget of your wedding should help to determine the type of entertainment that you can host at your reception and reception banquet. At a very formal affair, there may be a strolling accordionist or violinist or alternatively a piano player can provide "background "music as the meal is served. If you are having your reception in a private home or backyard, homemade tapes piped through a good stereo system or laptop computer can provide plenty of music to dance to.

Once you decide on the kinds of music that you want played at your wedding it is time to think about who will play it . You may already have someone in mind. Alternately you may have someone who decides that you do not want to have involved.

Every family has their own "Ted Stevens" or similar type character who believe that they have god's gift at entertainment whether it be their own music collection and they imagine and fantacize that they are a professional DJ disk jockey or alternatively that they have great professional entertainment skills - perhaps they view themselves as a world class entertainer or impersonator of famous people and celebrities. The basic rule is to be firm and consistent with these types. Thank them for their input and help but move onwards and away from such a debacle.

You may already have someone in mind already, such as the DJ who played at an acquaintance's wedding and did an exceptional memorable job, or perhaps a favorite local band. If you do not have any ideas, an indeed are short of ideas in this area - then it never hurts to ask. Word of mouth and the grapevine are often very reliable. The key here is to ask a number of people. Consistency is everything when it comes to presentation. Ask friends, relatives and co-workers. Perhaps they have thrown a wedding recently or have attended one where the music was memorable and impressed them. Indeed often the best bands and DJs are so popular and booked up that they do not need to advertise of promote themselves. Their reputation carries them. In these cases - book early. If you still find it difficult to find a good reference talk to your wedding coordinator or your wedding site coordination contact. They will have seen a lot of musical entertainment over their careers and should have no problem pointing you in the right directions. One last option is to ask around at local music outlets, online, at the music departments of local colleges and even your local musician's association.

A wedding or a wedding reception without music can be said to "lacking something". It just misses the mark. Take care and attention for the music arrangements at your wedding and wedding reception. After all your wedding day is "Your Day in the Sun."

Leaders Who Made Music

Most American people are familiar with the fact the former President Bill Clinton played the saxophone, but there are many others famous leaders who played instruments too, including at least six other United States Presidents.

Patrick Henry and Benjamin Franklin played instruments during their free time off from building a nation. Patrick Henry played the flute and fiddle and Benjamin Franklin played the guitar and violin.

Thomas Jefferson, the third US President, was known for many things including the Declaration of Independence, the Louisiana Purchase, the lazy Susan, and the dumb waiter. He was also known to have played the cello, clavichord, and the violin.

John Quincy Adams, the sixth President, was known for the Monroe Doctrine, but he also was known to play the flute. Chester Alan Arthur, the twenty first US President, played the banjo. Woodrow Wilson, the 28th US President, created the League of Nations and played the violin. Harry Truman and Richard Nixon played the piano. Nixon also played the accordion.

Other famous leaders, Mahatma Gandhi, Sir Edward Heath, Ross Perot, and Condeleeza Rice also played or still play instruments. Mahatma Gandhi, peaceful leader of India's Nationalist movement, played the concertina. Sir Edward Heath, a former British Prime Minister, played the organ and was a conductor. Ross Perot, an independent candidate for US President, plays the accordion. Condeleeza Rice, US Secretary of State, plays the piano. At one time, she was even considering a career as a concert pianist.

Playing an instrument has been scientifically proven to improve focus, discipline, and study habits. It also acts as an outlet for creativity and stress release. There are many social benefits derived from playing an instrument. Being part of a band or orchestra provides camaraderie and teaches how to function as part of a group.

Can playing an instrument guarantee you an elected position? Of course not, but it may put you on the road to a successful career!

RADIOHEAD - Pacific Coast - Black T-Shirt

Brand New, never worn 100% cotton front and back print Authentic black RADIOHEAD T-shirt.

There I was, knees quaking with anticipation, hardly noticing my partner, whose knees were equally quivering.

Just moments before, our category of the competition was called early; a well-planned surprise attack by the organizers, I'm sure. My partner, figuring he had a couple of hours before being called up onto the ballroom dance floor, had drifted out into the hallway of the classy hotel to drool over the concessionaires' many items for dance fanatics. "Novice Latin!" the announcer exclaimed. I whipped my head around to look at him in disbelief. Cold beads of perspiration dotted my forehead as I listened to the numbers of the couples being called up to the dance floor. "#143!" the announcer bellowed. In shock I sprang to my feet, my partner nowhere in site. Finally, after a few seconds which felt like centuries, my partner raced in to join me. I uttered a sigh of relief but that still didn't quell the flurry of butterfly wings in my stomach. I'm sure my eyes were as large as the taillights of the latest Alero! (as a matter-of-fact they wereshown in photos taken by a wandering photographer hoping to profit from the numerous couples dancing that day.)

And now, feeling like specimens beneath a magnifying glass under the scrutiny of the dance judges strategically positioned around the ballroom floor, here we were, about to embark upon our first ballroom dance competition experience, dazed and shocked at actually being on a competition floor. The myriad of watchful eyes surrounded us from the crowd of people consisting of family members of the competitors, friends, general public, the competitors themselves waiting to be called or just biding their time in hopes of a callback or a win.

"Cha Cha!" called the announcer. "Cha Cha? What's a Cha Cha???" the thought passed through my dazed brain. The beat of the Cha Cha permeated through the ballroom as my partner thankfully led me through the dance without a stumble or without me passing out from sheer terror. With cold, clammy hands we moved from one dance step to another, desperately scanning our memory banks for clues to the routines we had practiced for the last few months in preparation for our very first dance competition. "Oh God, please let this be over soon!" conveyed my subconscious. Finally, after about a minute and a half, the disk jockey ended the Cha Cha and the competitors scattered to find the perfect positioning on the ballroom floor for the next dance to be called.

"And now the Rumba - dancers please take your positions" bellowed the announcer. We waited tensely for that first beat; I glanced nervously around and couldn't help wondering if the other couples felt as stressed as we did. As my partner and I took our first Rumba step I had the strangest feeling come over me - a sense of pride at actually being a good-enough dancer to participate in a ballroom dance competition. We completed the Rumba and as we drifted off the dance floor to take our seats, my partner and I glanced at each other. In a fleeting moment I felt his elation; I knew that whether we won or not, we still had accomplished something that many dance couples never experience in their lifetimes, and from that moment on we would never again experience the fear of the unknown as we stepped out onto the competition dance floor.

Customer Review: Gaby Spanic Rocks!
When I seen this novela I was so glued to the TV I couldn't wait to see it everyday and sat-sun were the worse! I am so very happy they release such a classic on DVD. Granted, it may be edited and short but I think the reason why they did that was because they figured people who are buying it already know what happens. In my case, I wouldn't need the complete novela because I already saw it and I just wouldn't have the time. So this being edited has it's advantages for those who already saw it and loved it. After this novela, Gaby Spanic became one of my favorite spanish actresses! She did such a wonderful job and how brutal she was portraying the mean sister! I highly suggest you invest in this novela!
Customer Review: A Fantastic Story!!
A nice edited telenovela..you guys should buy this..even though there's no subtitile..but you can easily understand the whole story..you guys should buy this DVD!!

In many ways DirecTV broadens their range as a company with each venture that they involve the company in, whether it is sports or whether it is this new partnership to make schools more educational for students. This latest team up with Microsoft goes to show that they have become more than just a satellite television company who is in business for entertainment purposes only.

Directv and Microsoft have announced that they have formed a partnership and with this partnership they plan to make some changes in a big way in schools located in Miami and also in Latin America.

Although this is not the first time these two giants have teamed up, they were brought together approximately two years ago when they announced that they would be bringing Directv and Windows Media Center together. While a spec sheet for this product was reportedly shown there has not been a product that has been brought to the market that will be used as an educational aid for students.

This shows the direction that the Directv company is headed with their expanding from bringing integrated sports viewing to their customers to now partnering and heading into giving students a better education, both here and in other countries.

While the main focus will be in Latin America the highly rated satellite television company and the computer giant have begun this venture with a pilot school in Miami with their educational line up that will be available for viewing. Along with the Discovery Channel they will be working with a program called Escuela Plus, this will send educational programs by satellite into these participating schools.

These programs can be viewed live or stored on digital video recorders for students to view at a later time. This is just a part of what is included; there will also be a Microsoft help desk that is set up that will train teachers as well as the students to provide technical support in their computer labs.

This began as a pilot program in January of this year and included twenty-one schools in Latin America and there are plans to expand to other countries such as Chili, Columbia and Peru.

To date there is no firm plans of when this service that will add to the education of children in these other countries will begin. However, there are plans that this service will be used in these other countries.

Randy McCoy has been involved with Direct TV for over 15 years and provides information about Directv features to help consumers decide what they want when they start looking for a satellite provider.

The Bridge

Customer Review: THEY ROCK!!!!
Motion Soundtrack is amazing. They sound even better live !! Everyone should have a copy of this album, they blow Oasis away!!!!

Rock music fans wept from heartbreak on September 25, 1980. On that date, John Bonham, the talented drummer for the band Led Zeppelin, died from symptoms caused by an alcohol overdose, and concluded the reign of musics greatest heavy metal band. While the story of Led Zeppelin rightfully revolves around the bands music and their antics on and off stage, Led Zeppelin posters also have a firm place in rock history. The bands contribution to the image of rock music as portrayed through the bands posters was monumental. Led Zeppelin took rock and blues influences to new heights with their music, and captured the imagination of a generation with their poster art.

There are so many great Led Zeppelin posters; it's tough to pick a favorite. Certainly, one of the best would be the Swansong poster art of Apollo (not Icarus) above the runes. The composition is so simple, but the emotional power behind the art is undeniable. Of course, Apollo's mane of hair makes it a rock poster classic. While the meaning of the runes is still subject to debate this day, depending on your source, the most widely accepted version is that each member chose a symbol to represent them on the album cover. Robert Plant's symbol of a feather in a circle comes from an ancient mythical Mu civilization, and represents truth for Plant. John Bonham's rune of the three interlocking circles has a mysterious origin, but Plant has said that he thought it implied the trilogy of man, woman and child (or it was the emblem of Ballantine Beer inverted). John Paul Jones's symbol of a circle overlaying three ovals represents unity and family. The meaning of Jimmy Page's "zoso" symbol has not been disclosed to the public.

Some mistakenly attribute the symbols and runes on Led Zeppelin posters to an involvement by one or more band members in cults or alternative religions, and delusional rumors about satanic subliminal messages in the Stairway to Heaven played backwards have been spread for years. Though, these wild accusations often show that their fundamentalist accusers were more warped than the band. While many Led Zeppelin songs do demonstrate an attempt by the band to put people in touch with their spiritual or mystical sensitivities, nothing the band produced conflicted with basic Judean-Christian philosophies. The Led Zeppelin poster Writhing Angel should evidence the bands belief in the struggle of good against evil. Listen to Led Zeppelin yourself. You will find the lyrics to Immigrant Song, The Battle of Evermore and Whole Lotta Love and any others, are just pure rock.

Led Zeppelin hypnotized a generation around the world with powerful rock anthems. They synthesized wild combinations of musical influences and defined hard rock for the 1970's. Despite the fact that the band has produced a magnificent collection of poster art, it is interesting to note that the "plane photo" poster of the four band members in front of their airplane is still one of the most widely demanded rock music posters. In the same stature as the Beatles and Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin fans will not let go of this band. Their music means too much. In the end, the tremendous weight of success was too much for drummer John Bonham. But even with his passing, we can still buy the Stairway to Heaven. Maybe that's enough for this life.

In addition to being a collector of Led Zeppelin posters and a lifelong fan of the band and its music, Rock is the editor and publisher of Rock Poster Review. For more poster reviews, news and rumors about your favorite artists, please visit http://www.rockposterreview.com.

ROCK IS DEAD. Long Live Paper & Scissors Men's tee Shirt in 12 colors Small thru 6XL

Legend Vega is scheduled to release her newest CD this summer, Personal Space. Fans characterize Legend's style as a cross between Mariah Carey and a female version of Ricky Martin. She was born under the lights of Broadway in New York City but raised to the beat of Salsa and Merengue on the hot sands of Puerto Rico. Legend Vega is an experienced singer, songwriter, and model. She has just finished recording her newest CD with all of her own material. Her mainstream pop style and her Latin background make her an excellent crossover artist for the U.S. market. Her album features a broad mix of pop music recorded in English but with many Latin influences.

Legend has sung in a variety of venues from Caribbean resorts to outdoor festivals, and even on Broadway. She has performed with famous artists such as Elton John as an opening act at the Conquistador. On Broadway she performed as the lead vocalist in Tony and Tinas Wedding where she sang 32 songs nightly under director Larry Pellegrini. She has also exhibited her vocal skills as a duet partner and backup singer on various CDs for other artists.

In addition to her talents on stage, she also enjoys writing songs. She identifies themes, composes the lyrics, and develops the melody for all of her works. She has also been very involved in the arrangements of each of the songs on her new album. She has completed a multitude of songs in a wide variety of styles (Pop, Rock, Romantic Ballads, Salsa, etc.)

What I really love about singing is being able to reach into someones soul and touch their life in a special way. By writing my own music, I feel that I can do this even better its as if I am having a very personal and intimate conversation with each of my listeners. -- Legend

Legend has an energetic and alluring on-stage presence as a dancer. She has performed concerts in styles ranging from classical ballet to Brazilian samba. She has performed solo dance shows and sang with artists such as world renowned flute player Nestor Torrez.

My real passion is singing. For me, dancing is just the way my voice radiates its influence through my body. Dancing is a natural extension of the sound of my music. -- Legend

In addition to her musical and dance talents, she also has the physical look necessary for mainstream pop marketability. She is an experienced and successful model. She has appeared in print ads (perfume, hair, clothing, etc.), television commercials (beer, hair, etc.) and live fashion shows (Victoria Secrets, etc.). Although modeling is not her main focus, her style and appearance is a plus to her on-stage audience appeal.

Legend has a bachelors degree in TV and film production, and has also studied classical opera and composition at the Conservatory of Puerto Rico. She has hosted a television series about music topics (House of Rock) and produced a pilot for her own music show (Latino Connection). She has also had small cameo appearances in a variety of other television programs.

Her new album features a variety of pop songs. The music was recorded in San Juan under the leadership of Grammy award winner, Ramon Martinez. Legend co-arranged and co-produced most of the songs with Joaquin Fernandez. The instrumentals feature such well known musicians as Januse Bakun (bass player for Ricky Martin and Mark Anthony), Reynaldo Torres (drummer for Luis Fonsi), Rey Reyes (singer for Menudo), Joseph Fonseca, Aldo Mata, and many others.

The Latin Bass Book

This is a practical, comprehensive approach to learning Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and South American styles of bass playing, featuring 3 CDs of Berklee professor Oscar Stagnaro playing with three different world-class rhythm sections. The book consists mostly of transcriptions of every note Oscar plays on the accompanying CDs. Some amazing music, and logically progressing from simple to complex examples of each style.
Customer Review: What does one say?
This is a MASSIVE book (262 pages!) of latin bass in all it's various styles. We are not talking simple repetive patterns here either, we are talking from moderate to complex lines with excellent notation and a top notch CD set behind it. If you want to learn Latin Bass, you can start here, and stop here, as you won't find more and better probably anywhere else. Although it is not a Real Book, You can think of that kind of setup and variety.
Customer Review: Good intro to latin bass playing
This book is well thought, thorough and enjoyable. Comes with 3 CDs that stand alone on their own, if you don't mind having bass on one side and the rest of the band on the other. This arrangement allows you to pan the track and play along with the band, or focus on the bass line only. I googled some of the guys who play with Oscar in these CDs and they are first rate musicians with impressive resumes (try Rebeca Mauleón). It comes with no tab, but the first bass lines are simple enough so it wouldn't be a bad place to start reading, and once you understand the beats and where the bassline falls, you should be in a good position to read almost anything! The book takes you to a series of concepts that become more complex from track to track in a well thought way, so you build on your understanding of the subject. Probably the hardest part is to keep yourself from dancing while you play along to the CDs! A good purchase.

Andrew Adamson's vision of Lewis' Narnia again impresses and stuns viewers with breath-taking on location shots, impressively high quality special effects, and direction of a well-organised cast. For those who know the story, there are a few changes made for cinematic presentation, but nothing that alters the story drastically and perhaps the changes did make for smoother viewing. Prince Caspian is definitely holds the audience's attention as it unfolds a slightly predictable, but delightful and exciting fantasy story.

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS BELOW

The cast of the film was well put together, if for no other reason, the characters whom appeared in the previous film returned in whole and the newer characters were lesser known, but high quality actors and actresses. While the cast was grand and for the most brought the film credibility, it was the special effects and the non-human characters that filled out the tale to make it more enjoyable. Talking animals, dwarves, centaurs, minotaurs, et cetera coloured the screen and passed as completely "human" characters. The battles scenes offered great presentations of height and shape difference between the humans and the Narinians, giving the audience a sense of reality on which to attach their suspension of disbelief.

The Lewis books are subtly Christian in nature, which is to be expected, given Lewis' religious background, but the film, however, takes a rather large wooden mallet and whops you over the head with Christianity. From more blatant dialogue between Aslan and Lucy to suggestions that warriors in the film have become Christian and other sneaky was of throwing religion at the viewer, Adamson's decisions concerning the Christian nature of Narnia is not left to the imagination in the least. Regardless, it does not over power the story to the point of being distracting.

My singular complaint was the music at the end of the film. The entire movie is presented in a serious and consistently themed soundtrack until the last scene where a sappy, poorly executed, horribly out-of-place song appears to make you want to run screaming from the cinema! Being an ethnomusicologist and musician, I thought it was simply my snobbery that harboured those feelings, but alas, without deviation, all of the people with whom I have spoken about the music at the end (many without me mentioning it first) have expressed their severe dislike for the choices made. Too bad. The film carries itself so well until those last few seconds.

Overall, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is a well-done work and stands to draw even more fans to the next film and return to the books on which is was based. An excellent movie-going experience which I highly recommend.
